For a sick person, the sunnah reports precise invocations: those you say for yourself in pain, and those you say when visiting someone who is ill. Here they are, in Arabic, phonetics and English, each with its source.
Hand on the pain, for any bodily pain.
بِسْمِ اللهِ ٣ · أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ وَقُدْرَتِهِ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا أَجِدُ وَأُحَاذِرُ ٧
3× Bismi-Llāh · 7× Aʿūdhu bi-Llāhi wa qudratihi min sharri mā ajidu wa uḥādhir
Place your hand on the painful spot, say “Bismi-Llāh” 3 times, then 7 times: “I seek refuge in Allah and His power from the evil I feel and fear.”

أَسْأَلُ اللهَ الْعَظِيمَ، رَبَّ الْعَرْشِ الْعَظِيمِ، أَنْ يَشْفِيَكَ
As’alu-Llāha-l-ʿaẓīm, rabba-l-ʿarshi-l-ʿaẓīm, an yashfiyak
I ask Allah the Mighty, Lord of the Mighty Throne, to cure you. (For yourself: “an yashfiyanī” · to cure me.)

Allāhumma rabba-n-nās, adhhibi-l-ba’s, ishfi anta-sh-Shāfī, lā shifā’a illā shifā’uk, shifā’an lā yughādiru saqamā
O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the harm. Cure · You are the Curer: there is no cure but Yours, a cure that leaves no illness behind.
